Gather, Gathers, Gathering

Alison Murray is a Girramay Traditional Owner of the Murray Upper area near Cardwell in North Queensland.

 

One of the talented Murray family Alison has a very strong attachment to family and this is  manifest in the work she produces. She has a strong connection to place and heritage and draws from traditional stories and the places where she lives and camps for her inspiration. She has an eye for detail and a good understanding for composition, colour and pattern making.

 

Most recently Alison was awarded the inaugural Emerging Artist Award at the Cains Indigenous Art Fair and was commissions to create works for Cairns Performing Art Centre (2018)..  Alison first showed her work in 2009.  Since then her work has been included in numerous exhibitions and sd a finalist in the 2016 Shepparton Indigenous Ceramic Art Awards and in the Salon des Refuses in Darwin 2016.. Her artwork has been acquired by the Parliament House Art Collection in Canberra, the National Maritime Museum, National Gallery of Victoria and others.

Should your product be faulty, we are happy to provide a store credit to the price of the item (proof of purchase required). Please contact us within 30 (thirty) days of purchase to arrange your return.  

    Shipping: Any times that are returned will be shipped at your cost. Insurance: We strongly recommend insuring all arts, crafts and fragile products. As we hand our items to reputed freight, postage and courier companies we cannot accept returns of items purchased that have been damaged due to their negligence. 

  • The Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre is located in Cardwell, Far North Queensland. The centre represents artists from nine Traditional Owner Groups, the Nywaigi, Gugu Badhun, Warrgamay, Warungnu, Bandjin, Girramay, Gulgnay, Jirrbal and Djiru people.
